FOUR TIPS FOR PERFECT LIPS

Happy Sunday, my loves! With different colors and shapes, lips can change your entire finished makeup look. That's how important it is to have perfect lips. I want to share with you girls a few tips to achieve the perfect lip look. 

Always prep your lips

You can prep your lips with lip primer or lip balm to make sure a smooth application of any lipstick. I actually use lip balm every night before I go to sleep. Night time is the best time to recover and repair for anything. 

Pick your lip liner

I've been using Maybelline color sensational lip liner for a while now and it comes in many different colors. I really like them and I also brought them with me to my trip to Dallas last weekend. It's the essential to create a more defined lip look. A lot of girls asked me how to pick the color of the liner, I say there is no rule and it's totally up to you and what you like. You can coordinate your lipstick with similar lip liner color or create bold definition by lining your lips with darker shade. 

What I love about the Maybelline color sensational lip liner is that it's so easy and precise define my lips with its self-sharpening liner. It also uses no-smudge formula to prevent lipstick bleeding, feathering and keeping them in places. That's the secrete to always have a more defined lip look. 

Tracing your lip line

I like to start from top center of my lips and work outward and then work on my bottom lips. I normally trace my natural lip line, but if you want a bolder look and I definitely have tried before I overdraw my natural lip line to achieve a bolder look. With the Maybelline lip liner, it's just so easy to draw the lines. 

How to fix the edge

If you really overdraw the line and made a mistake, you can use a small amount of concealer or foundation around your lips to fix the small stains around the edge of your lips. I've been using the Maybelline lip liner for a while now and I actually never need to fix anything cause it's super easy to use. 

Today's look I'm wearing both Maybelline's lipstick and lip liner. It's a slightly deeper red than what I would normally wear. But it's so fun to play with different colors and color combinations. NEW SF DO

Yay for the new do! How awesome is my new hair color and I really love it!

First let me show you girls my hair before the coloring process. 

You girls probably noticed that I haven't colored my hair for a while and the main reason is because I'm trying to really take care of my hair after all the chemical treatment and coloring. But my hair looked really weird during my makeup/hair trial for my wedding. I needed a more consistent color in order to make different hair styles look nice on my wedding day. 

Earlier this week, I visited Eclipse Salon in San Francisco to prep a new look for my wedding. I walked in the salon, my hair stylist Gary Yeung greeted me and we did a detailed color consultation to figure out the best color option for me. He recommended the hair color that works with my skin tone and my style. Gary is super professional and experienced in hair coloring (he took the before photo for me). He lightened up the base with full head blonde balayage and color melt with dark blonde to light blonde with two toners!

To gain dimensions on my hair, he also used Brazilian blond builder during the whole color process to protect the integrity of the hair! That's why my hair doesn't feel damaged after the whole process. As you girls can see the color looks very dimensional from top to bottom especially after the beach wave styling. 

A good hair day is everything! Can I have this hair everyday? :P

COLLEEN ROTHSCHILD BEAUTY REVIEW

Happy Thursday, loves! I’m super excited to share with you girls my new skin care routine with Colleen Rothschild beauty products because this beauty line is extremely effective and has totally exceeded my expectations. 

Mr. SF and I both started using this line once I found out about this luxury skin care brand, which can be used daily and is great for every skin type from young to aging and from oily to acne prone. Interesting right? I’m a combination skin type while Mr. SF is an oily skin type. Below are the products we have been using lately.

Radiant Cleansing Balm:

I love this aromatic cleansing balm and it makes me feel like I’m walking into a spa. Not only do I use it in the morning, I also use the cleansing balm at night time as well because it dissolves eye and face makeup easily. 

It’s easy and fun to use. I rub the balm together to warm it up and then massage it into dry skin. Then I wet the muslin cloth that comes with the cleansing balm with hot water, and wring it damp. Then I place it over my skin for a mini facial and then use it to wipe off the balm. Lastly, I finish up with a splash of cool water to leave my skin glowing. 

Sometimes when I have more time, I apply a thick layer of balm all over my face and place a warm muslin cloth over the top for a few minutes. Just enjoy the aroma and relax. Mini facial at home :P

Sheer Renewal Cream:

This sheer cream provides continuous, weightless hydration and promotes cellular renewal to help minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles. What I love about it is it’s not just a moisturizer and it’s also a great makeup primer. I put it on every morning before I apply my makeup. 

Mr. SF loves it after shaving because it soothes his skin and feels so refreshing. 

It’s super easy to use right after the cleansing balm. I use it both in the morning and at night. 

Face Oil N°9:

Night time is perfect for skin recovery and renewal. I use the face oil after my cleansing balm. I feel the intense moisture boost after I put on this oil. Do you girls remember my previous post about this summer beauty box from Target? In the first picture, from left to right, top to bottom, there’s an Olay Active Botanicals Moisturizer and an Olay Active Botanicals Toner that I have been using on a daily basis. Then there’s the Fekkai Pre-Soleil Hair Mist that contains UV filters to protect my hair from sun damage, color fade and dehydration. Next, the Color Girl Supersizer Mascara that I used to create a makeup look in my previous post. Of course then the Crest 3D Whitestrips 1HR Express, which instantly whiten my teeth. Lastly, the Hair Food Moisturizing Mask, which is a moisture hair mask infused with a honey Apricot Fragrance. It not only smells so good, but also provides rich moisture protection for smooth, manageable hair.

Today, I will show you girls a few simple steps, which I go through, to get ready for work in the morning with this Target Beauty Box. 

Skin Care: Face Wash. Apply the Olay Active Botanicals Toner, followed by the Olay Active Botanicals Moisturizer. Dispense onto my palm and massage onto my face and neck. It provides the necessary hydration throughout the day. 

Makeup: Actually when it comes to work makeup, I always keep it at a minimum. I use BB cream to have some coverage. My work makeup essentials are eyeliner and mascaras. They’re the key to make you look energetic instantaneously in the morning.  So I draw simple eye liner first on the top and bottom of my eye lids, then apply the Cover Girl Supersizer Mascara a few times to add some volume. When you girls use it, it’s best to slightly twirl the lash styler when you apply. It maximizes the result and you can apply as many coats as you want. For my last step with my makeup, I add some matte colored or nude lipstick.

Hair: Most of the time I like to keep my hair straight at work, but sometimes, especially on Fridays, I curl my hair using a curling iron. I normally don’t curl my whole head and focus more on the bottom of my hair. Then I apply the Fekkai Pre-Soleil Hair Mist. It’s really great, especially in the summer now. It’s always important to protect your hair and prevent it from sun damage, color fade and dehydration. 

Outfit: My favorite work outfits are simple and classy dresses for summer. They are so easy to put on in the morning and I can also go to happy hour with these dresses after work. I usually go to work with a day bag, so that I can carry a makeup bag, some work documents, my wallet and everything that I need throughout the day.

Hair Food Moisturizing Mask, it’s a moisture hair mask infused with honey Apricot Fragrance, no wonder it smells so good. It provides rich moisture protection for smooth, manageable hair. Last one is the Cover Girl Supersizer Mascra. This summer I saw a lot of dramatic eye makeup from different runways like bold color eyeliner and cat eye. Today I will show you girls how to create this eye makeup look with the Cover Girl Supersizer Mascara. 

Step 1: Draw short and thin dashes of eyeliner across your lid until you have completed a straight line on the top. I like to start from the corner of the eye and to the end;  it makes my eye appear wider. The thicker this line, the more dramatic the cat eye will appear.

Step 2: For the bottom liner, I normally start around the middle or a quarter, draw the line and a little longer and up like a wing. 

Step 3: Connect the tip of your wing back into the eyeliner on the lid creating a triangle. Then go back to the eyeliner on the top to fill in the triangle. 

Step 4: Apply false lashes. 

Step 5: Use the Cover Girl Supersizer Mascara on both top and bottom eyelashes after you applied false lashes. Small tip here, bottom lashes are extremely important if you want your eyes to look bigger. When you girls use this Supersizer, to achieve the best result, slightly twirl the lash styler when you apply. The beauty of this mascara is also that you can apply as many coats as you want. You will be surprised that it provides a lot volume and I’m really happy with it. 

Like I mentioned to you girls before, beauty is very individual. You can draw this eyeliner thinner or thicker to create a cat eye that fits you the most. HELLO BEAUTIFUL PART TWO

Do you girls remember my first Hello Beautiful post about the Target Beauty Box in April? I showed you girls everything inside the pretty little box that I was so very excited about. Now I have finally gotten a chance to use every single item in the box. I've been washing my hair with SheaMoisture Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System Shampoo and then I use TRESemme TRES Tow extra hold hairspray to make my curly hair last longer. I use Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream to moisturize my face and L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Spray & Set to lock my makeup for all-day extended wear. I enjoyed every product, especially the Maybelline Color Elixir by Color Sensational Lip Color and it inspired me to create today’s look.

I just used foundation then drew my eyebrows and eyeliner. I put on eye shadow and followed that up with eyelashes. I want to talk more about the lips for this look. My lips definitely don’t look this full naturally and I absolutely love full lips. Today, I want to share the secret with you girls about how to create fuller lips. The steps are really easy.

Here is what I used to achieve this look: a small amount of olive oil, a little bit of cinnamon powder, lip balm, a tooth brush and Maybelline Color Elixir by Color Sensational Lip Color.

Step 1: Use a tooth brush to dip in the lip balm and make sure the tooth brush is fully loaded with lip balm. Then use the tooth brush to brush your lips, top and bottom. Use a circular motion to brush for about a minute or two. Then wipe everything off. After this step, your lips should look fuller already.

Step 2: Mix up a small amount of olive oil and cinnamon together - really small, because you only need a little bit. Same as the first step, use a tooth brush to scrub your lip with the mix in a circular motion. It will totally help your lips swell up. You will feel a tickling sensation when you brush your lips. It actually feels really interesting. I like the taste of it. After this step, my lips were huge, haha. Then wipe off the cinnamon on your lips.

Step 3: I finished up the lip look with Maybelline Color Elixir by Color Sensational Lip Color. It gives me the color of lipstick and the shine of a gloss.

Step 4: (Optional) If you want to make your lips look even fuller, you can use a similar color lip pencil to draw a slightly bigger outline to make your lips appear larger.

Ta da, here we go now you have fuller looking lips. I have always felt that beauty is very individual and I hope these steps are informative and inspiring to you. You girls have to try these steps and I promise you that they will make your lips look fuller and more lush. You will be surprised how well this works. For you girls who love lipstick like me, you know when you are out, it’s tough to apply lipstick perfectly unless you bring a brush with you. This trio of concentrates delivers the color of a lipstick, the care of a balm and the shine of a gloss. I’ve never used anything that can function as lipstick, lip balm and a lip gloss. The applicator wand makes the application so much easier and accurate. It can totally solve the problem that I have with lipsticks. I can’t wait to try it.

TGIF loves! I received a few beauty products from Olay a while ago and I finally got through using everything below. Overall, most of them are great, easy to use and affordable. I'd like to share with you my thoughts on my favorite ones.

Actually this is my first flu soak product. The all-natural formula is packed with essential oils like eucalyptus and peppermint, which help to open nasal passages and soothe body aches and pains. It smells great. The weather is cold in New York, so whenever I feel a little bit under the weather, I’ve been putting 4–6 capfuls into hot bathwater. I soak for about 20 minutes. Then put on a facial mask and afterward drink some hot lemon tea or ginger tea. It helps a lot and prevents you from getting a serious cold.

-Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream

It doesn't have any added on fragrance, but it smells great. It's moisturizing, but not greasy. I definitely feel the tightness in my skin after using it for two weeks.

-L'Occitane Shea Whipped Body Cream
The problem with most shea butter body creams is they are usually too heavy for me, but this one is not. It's light,nourishing and moisturizing. I normally apply it after taking a shower because it makes my skin smooth. Normally my skin gets drier when the weather is cold, so it's perfect for me during the winter time. 

-Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Thicken &Full 3D Boosting Creme

Having both the volume and bouncy feel are extremely important for a good hair day. The 3D cream boosts your hair and it makes my hair look fuller and thicker. Normally I apply 3 pumps or more after I wash my hair and evenly distribute it all over my hair, massage it at the roots and then blow dry. I don't use any spray after I blow dry because sometimes the spray tends to make your hair look a little rigid. I’ve been using this product recently whenever I wash my hair.

-Rita Hazan Weekly Remedy

My hair has been damaged after I did my highlights. The lightweight treatment fixes my hair immediately from the inside out for instant gratification. Step 1 opens the hair cuticles for optimal penetration of conditioners and proteins and then Step 2 seals and locks in the coniditioners for deep and lasting hydration. What I like about it is that first you don't need to apply that much. Another great thing is that after both steps you can just immediately rinse instead of like a lot of other hair products where you have to wait for at least a few minutes before you can rinse. It's definitely more effective than regular conditioners.

There is a saying say that there are no ugly women, only lazy women. I love and enjoy trying new beauty products to make me look and feel better. I believe that if you always take good care of yourself to look great, you will see the difference over time. What hair products or skin care products do you like to use?
